HACU Announcements and ongoing updates

04/17/2026

Almost nine years ago, Hematology and Cancer Untold (HACU) partnered with the Well Woman Clinic for the Mammogram Initiative. What began as a dream has now become a reality.  On Thursday, April 9, 2026, we held a pink ribbon cutting ceremony for the Iris Mammography Suite and officially launched a mammography machine at the Well Woman Clinic in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This marks a major milestone in advancing breast cancer detection and women’s healthcare in the country. ... See more

HACU is grateful to Villa Joseph Marie High School in Holland, PA, for their very generous contribution to our Care Kit Drive for Breast Cancer and MAC Pack Drive for Sickle Cell.  Through a donation drive led by Maddie Chan, about 300 deodorants were received.  Just a few days before Christmas, santa clearly definitely came early for HACU and we are truly grateful to the entire community at Villa.  We know this will be well received by the clinics and communities we support both in Freetown and Kono, Sierra Leone.

HACU extends its sincere gratitude to the student body of Holy Ghost Preparatory School for their generous contributions to a recent warm clothing drive. The initiative, led by Nathan Cole, was organized to benefit sickle cell patients residing in Kono, Sierra Leone. Individuals living with sickle cell disease often experience increased sensitivity to cold, which can trigger painful complications. The donated items will provide critical support and comfort to these "sickle cell warriors," particularly during the colder seasons in the Kono region. HACU applauds Nathan Cole and the Holy Ghost Prep community for their global humanitarian efforts and commitment to improving the lives of those in need.

Team HACU is very excited about all of the opportunities that HACU had to continue to spread Breast Cancer awareness this year at events ranging from a community health fair in Mt. Rainer, Maryland to a Coffee Hour Health talk in New Brunswick New Jersey.  We would love to partner with you to continue to spread the message because knowledge is power and early detection does help to save lives.
